More about

The project

The highest ski resort in Georgia, the flagship snow destination for freeride and heliski beginners, Gudauri is also popular in summer for its environment and mountains. With this new system, the resort can now host a 4-season operation.

While the Kobi-Gudauri ski lift helps to develop the tourist activity of the region, it also has uses in suburban transport. The city’s proximity to the Georgian capital Tbilisi and the Russian border makes it a major crossing point via the Jvari Pass. The same pass, which is often impassable in winter, used to cut the resort and the entire Kazbegi region off from the rest of Georgia. Thanks to this valley lift, this is no longer the case.

Many challenges had to be met! The POMA and PERI teams, the Georgian company in charge of the construction, joined forces in mobilising a hundred or so workers.
